We take the stress out of writing. We will pretty up your words without changing your voice.
Stuff.
I do work A LOT of hours. This is my full-time gig. I am not disappearing on you for another day job. Well, maybe another editing job. I have staff that work nights. I have staff that work days.
We do book about ( I really wanted to type “aboot.” For some reason I felt Canadian just for that moment) 3 months out. Cancels and delays occur, and I happily slide people into those spots instead of watching Netflix, so everything IS fluid when it comes to timing.
Our schedule can be pretty flexible. All I ask is for communication on where you’re at. When you ghost me, I get pretty sad and assume it was because I had spinach in my teeth during a bad Tinder date with you.
Life happens. We all run behind. We all have delays or date changes. It happens, and I can move things around. Just keep me posted on dates. ADD CUSHION to your due dates. For all parties involved. Authors run late, editors run late, formatters run late, Amazon runs late… there can be delays… CUSHION FOR ANYTHING TO HAPPEN. Shit, sometimes we all run early.
The time needed to work on your manuscript will all depend on our current schedule, length of the manuscript, the extent of editing needed, if Mercury is in retrograde or not, what I've eaten that day, if my clothes are comfortable.… In other words, we can't give you an exact timeline in a global template—that is something we can actually discuss.
Keep in mind that we are dedicated and focused on the author we are working with that day. Constant interruptions are not fair to the author/manuscript that is the current work in progress. Notifications are usually turned off to avoid distractions, it feels weird that I even have to disclose this. But don't take it personally if you don't hear back immediately. I'm just working on scrubbing down a book. Or I might be eating. I don’t have any other hobbies to distract me. Email and Messenger, etc. are only checked once, maybe twice, a day.
I'm a gal of few words. I don't have much to say in general. This is the longest dose of information you will EVER get from me, and it's a website.
Email is the preferred method to go over deadlines and edit details (so I have something to reference back to). Text to shoot the shit about tacos or books or anything else. But I prefer dates, deadlines, specific details, etc. anything that I may need to reference back, in email. It's my to-do list.

Phone calls are not ideal as I retain NOTHING that is verbally told to me. My ears are not my strength and they simply sometimes don’t work. My eyeballs are where everything is at.
And yes, I switched back and forth between me and we. When you exchange email and texts, you are typically talking and communicating with Ellie (me). My Brother’s Editor does have staff (we) that may be touching your manuscript.
We've been asked on preference for listing credit in books, if you choose to, please list My Brother’s Editor. We love getting tagged and shared on social media and on Amazon. It gives us a weird warm feeling. And gets you discounted rates. Sounds like blackmail? Nah, just a favor for word of mouth.
One other super cool guarantee. You get one free re-edit in the lifetime of your book. Why? Sometimes (all times) things get missed. Sometimes things change, slang changes, current events change, GRAMMAR RULES DO CHANGE... and books need to be revamped. My Brother's Editor will offer you one free re-edit of a book already done by us. Any time you want it. It's there. Just let me know.
The important thing is we need and want YOU to be happy. Even if your book does not have a happy ending, we want our business relationship with you to have a happy ending. If you are ever not satisfied, you need to please communicate with me and give us the opportunity to fix things.
We will get it right one way or another. If you're happy, please spread the word. Please tag My Brother's Editor. Please share My Brother's Editor. Please refer My Brother's Editor.
